Dixie is a cuddly, athletic, and silly 6 year old Labrador Retriever looking for a new home to call her own.
Here are a few things about Dixie:
Dixie, like most labs, thinks food is great! She also adores taking long naps on her dog bed, the snow (unlike most of us Minnesotans right now), and chewing on bones.
Dixie can be a bit unsure about new places, but once she settles in she loves to explore! She walks very well on a leash, and would rather take a nice, relaxing walk with her people than spend time playing with other dogs. Not that she minds if you have other dogs (or even cats!) around, in fact, she will pretty much pretend they aren’t even there.
If you are not super active, that’s okay too, Dixie is content to curl up someplace soft and nap the day away. Speaking of which, she loves her foster brother’s large dog bed, and has no problem curling up next to him for a nap.
Dixie is still learning how to act in the house, which means she still needs to be taken outside after coming out of her crate and gentle reminders that paws do not belong on the counter. She also thinks that wood floors are scary when she can’t find traction, but is learning how to maneuver them. Because she can get scared by new things in her environment, Dixie would prefer a home with a 6 foot fence, or someone who is willing to always have her on a leash outside.
Dixie is 55 pounds and 21 inches at the withers. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and on heartworm preventative.
